The Leader of the Movement for National Development (MND) is extremely pleased to see that after all the propaganda, wasteful spending and jockeying for the hearts and minds of the population, 49% of the population remain resolved in their position that none of the major political parties or leaders of political parties can have their support.
The fact is there is little to choose between any of them at this time.
There can be little doubt (based on the present make up of the two) that neither the UNC nor COP will have any radically different policy considerations from those of the PNM. They are one and the same even though they look slightly different.
The PNM, UNC and COP will reduce unemployment by promoting CEPEP and URP; they will promote big business over the development of the poor man; they will continue to centralise government and expand it; they will yield to the wishes of big brother and build smelters all over the place; there will be unabated corruption and overspending on useless projects; there will be ethnic division - the tribes may change status that's all no difference.
I know that the majority of the population want a government that will be different, I know that the majority of the population want change not exchange, I know the majority of the population want a government that will fight crime, fight inflation, facilitate the creation of sustainable meaningful jobs, fight poverty, develop proper education and health systems and decentralize and devolve government to the communities.
I know that the people of Trinidad and Tobago want a government that will work for them (the people) rather than will spend its time fulfilling selfish ambitions of grandeur.
I am committed to building such a government and as of Tuesday 5th December when I return to Trinidad and Tobago I will devote all of my time to creating such a government to fulfil the desires of the majority of citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. So 49% look out.
